About Crescent City and Del Norte County
CRESCENT CITY is located on Hwy 101 on the beautiful Northern California coast about 20 miles south of the Oregon border. The area offers an abundance of outdoor recreational activities utilizing the proximity of the Pacific Ocean, the Smith River and Klamath River, Redwood National and State Parks, and the Smith River National Recreation Area.

Crescent City lies in a Mediterranean Climate (Koppen Csb) with mostly warm (not hot) and dry summers. Precipitation approaches nearly 70 inches annually, with the wettest months being from November to March. Average temperatures are mild, the warmest month being August with an average high of 66 °F and an average low of 51 °F. The coolest, December averages a high of 53 °F and a low of 39 °F. During the period of 1948-2001, the highest recorded temperature was 93 °F. and the lowest recorded temperature was 19 °F.
