QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, political science, or a closely related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
Experience: Extensive progressively responsible managerial or administrative experience with a municipality or public agency. Experience performing responsible redevelopment and personnel administration is highly desirable.
Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of municipal operations in a full service city, including redevelopment, housing and economic development. An understanding of municipal finance, redevelopment funding, and housing authority funding. An understanding of developing working partnerships with state, regional and local governments, business and community organizations. Ability to provide effective, professional, friendly, and approachable leadership. Provide sound, professional recommendations to the City Council that are well planned and presented in a clear and understandable manner. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of city staff, city officials, other governmental agencies, the business community, and citizens. Speak effectively in public. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships. Exercise leadership, authority, and supervision tactfully and effectively with the ability to hold staff accountable.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual Salary: $90,000 - $115,000.
Retirement PERS 2.5% @ 55. The City pays the 8% employee contribution; EPMC reported.
Health The City provides a $1360/month flexible spending account to apply towards health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, air ambulance, long-term disability, and life insurance.
Vacation Leave Vacation is accrued at 4 hours biweekly upon employment and increases with time in service. There is an accumulation limit.
Sick Leave Sick leave is accrued at 4 hours biweekly with an accumulation limit.
Holidays 12 paid holidays per year.
Deferred Compensation: The City offers a voluntary payroll deduction to participate in the ICMA deferred compensation program.
Vehicle Allowance is negotiable.
Relocation Assistance may be available.
THE SELECTION PROCESS will consist of an initial applicant screening, a community member interview panel, and a City Council interview panel.
Subsequent to a job offer and prior to being hired, a candidate must successfully pass a medical examination, a drug screen, a current DMV review, a fingerprint and background check.
